Plastic-Free Insect Net
Plastic-Free Insect Net
The Plastic-Free InsectoNet provides a biodegradable, fossil fuel-free solution to protecting plants from pests. With a fine mesh, it’s ideal for protecting your plants from even the smallest of pests. It does so with minimal disruption to light and air. It also protects against mild frosts, heavy rain and wind. Unlike petroleum-based insect nets, InsectoNet is made from plants, or starch-based polylactic acid (PLA), and therefore more sustainable.
The fine 0.85mm mesh provides protection from pests like leaf miners, cabbage white butterfly, carrot fly, cabbage root fly, onion fly, leek moth, cutworm, pea moth, thrips, whitefly and many species of aphid (greenfly and blackfly).
The Plastic-Free InsectoNet has high light penetration (88%) and airflow ensuring plant growth is unaffected. Designed to be extremely light (34 grams per square metre) so it can be laid directly on top of plants without damaging them and allows plants to be able to lift the netting as they grow, provided there is enough slack.
How to use:
Cover plants after planting or sowing up until harvest. Lay excess material to allow space for plant growth. Secure the sides of the net with stones or pegs (not included). You can also use hoops to create a structure. Time of use depends on plant and pest. Either water gently through the netting or lift to water. Take netting off during the flowering period of plants, like strawberries or raspberries, that require pollination. At the end of the season dry the net and store in a cool, dry place. Netting is preventative only.
InsectoNet will last for at least 3 years.
