WildID Guides - British Bats
WildID Guides - British Bats
This guide, produced with the Mammal Society, features eight fold-out pages of detailed, full-colour illustrations showing all 16 species of bat that live and breed in Britain. It has both a night-time guide for identifying flying bats and a daytime guide for bats at rest. As it’s an offence to disturb a wild bat without a licence, it’s recommended you start by trying to identify bats in flight.
The guide will show you what to look for and how to gather initial clues without using any special equipment. Information includes size, range, flight pattern, emergence time after dusk and more. A bat detector will further help you by correctly identifying each species and this guide covers bat identification using both heterodyne and time expansion detectors.
WildID fold-out guides from the Field Studies Council provide an illustrative and informative way of helping you identify plants and wildlife in your garden and the wider landscape. The Field Studies Council is an environmental education charity based in the U.K. with the aim of creating outstanding opportunities for everyone to learn about nature.
